Admissions, without the guesswork.

Graduate admissions are handled by the Office of Graduate Studies in Bangkok, with the India Office supporting Indian applicants through every step. Here is the whole sequence, and what you should have ready before you start.

The sequence

Six steps from first enquiry to first class.

  1. Allow 1 day

    Talk to the India Office

    A short conversation about your degree, marks, work experience and which programme fits. This is also where you find out honestly whether you are a plausible candidate before spending anything — and where scholarships are first raised.

  2. Allow 1–2 weeks

    Assemble your documents

    Transcripts, degree certificate, passport, photographs, CV and recommendation letters. No English test is required — Indian applicants are exempted. The checklist is on the right; start it now, because transcripts from Indian universities are the usual delay.

  3. Online

    Submit the application

    Applications are made through the university's application portal with supporting documents uploaded. The India Office reviews your file before submission so it is not returned for a missing page.

  4. Programme-dependent

    Interview and any entrance requirement

    Graduate programmes may require an interview and, for some, an entrance examination. There is no English-language test for Indian applicants — the India Office will confirm exactly what your programme asks for.

  5. Allow 2–4 weeks

    Offer, acceptance and first payment

    On an offer you accept your place and make the first payment. This is what unlocks the acceptance letter you need for the visa — so the visa clock only starts here.

  6. Allow 3–6 weeks

    Visa, travel and orientation

    Apply for the Non-Immigrant ED visa at the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate in India, book flights and accommodation, and arrive for orientation. The visa page covers this in detail.

Five intakes a year. Assumption's Graduate Studies admission schedule runs intakes in January, May, June, September and November, with application deadlines roughly a month before each. The live schedule is below.

Deadlines are published as mid-month; the countdown takes that as the 15th, so treat it as approximate and confirm the exact date with the India Office. Intakes marked Expected follow the same annual pattern and should be confirmed before you plan a resignation or a loan around them.

No IELTS or TOEFL is needed — Indian applicants are exempted from the English-language test requirement. Other requirements vary by programme and school; confirm your list with the India Office before paying for attestations.
