How to partner

From first call to first cohort.

Written for the person who will have to take this to a governing council. Nothing here commits your institution to anything until step four.

  1. Allow 1 call

    Exploratory conversation

Who your students are, which programmes you run, what you are trying to achieve, and whether Assumption is a sensible fit. If it is not, we will say so — a partnership that does not serve your students wastes both institutions' time.

  2. Allow 2–4 weeks

    Academic mapping

Departments on both sides compare programme structures, credit systems and assessment. This produces a written mapping document that becomes the substance of everything that follows.

  3. Allow 2–3 weeks

    Model selection and scoping

Which of the six models fits — twinning, semester abroad, exchange, faculty exchange, joint short programmes, study visits — plus cohort size, calendar alignment and fee structure.

  4. Allow 4–8 weeks

    Draft MoU and internal approvals

A memorandum of understanding goes to each institution's own approval chain. On the Indian side this typically means the academic council and the governing body; timelines depend entirely on when those bodies meet.

  5. Allow 3–6 weeks

    Validation and credit-transfer agreement

The mapped programme is validated by both academic authorities and the credit-transfer terms recorded in writing. Students should not be recruited to a route before this step closes.

  6. One intake cycle

    First cohort

Joint information sessions for students and parents, applications, visa support, and a named contact in Chennai for the cohort's duration. Most partnerships review after cycle one and expand from there.

These are planning estimates, not commitments. The real timeline is set by your own approval calendar — when your academic council and governing body next sit. Tell us those dates early and we will work backwards from them.
Have ready for step two0 of 7
Institutions that arrive at step two with these in hand routinely reach a signed MoU a full semester earlier.
